Mr. James (Jim) Reseburg has been in Emergency Services for over 30 years. He served as a member of the Beloit, WI Fire Department for 29 years, his last 9 of which at the position of Fire Chief, Emergency Manager and Hazardous Materials Director. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the Emergency Management Institute for the past 25 years and has taught over 190 courses. He has served as a member of the Rock County, WI Emergency Planning Committee and is a content expert for Curriculum Development for the National Fire Academy.
Mr. Reseburg is also a Certified Public Manager, a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program, former member of the Beloit Board of Education and was appointed by the Wisconsin Legislature to serve on the Council on Disaster Management for Public Health.
Mr. Reseburg has dedicated the last 25 years in Emergency Management Training for units of government and Institutes of Higher Education. Mr. Reseburg along with other instructors identified the need to offer services to a population that historically has been underserved which was Institutes of Higher Education. Based on the aftermath of institutions like Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois Universities, FEMA contracted Mr. Reseburg to serve as the Subject Matter Expert in the development of and Emergency Management Course specifically designed to meet the needs of Colleges and Universities. The course, Emergency Planning for Institutes of Higher Education is currently offered to Institutes of Higher Education all over the United States.
Mr. Reseburg and business partner Robert McKibben have been the Instructors for the pilot offerings in Maryland and California and have continued to be the lead instructors for this FEMA offering.
Mr. Reseburg has instructed many Emergency Management courses for FEMA and has provided his leadership to many Institutes of Higher Education in the development of their specific site emergency operations training and Emergency Operations Plan development. Mr. Reseburg has provided training for over 30,000 students during his tenure as an instructor of Emergency Management strategies. Mr. Reseburg has been certified as an Instructor for the National Emergency Management Advanced Academy Program.
Mr. Reseburg continues to be a leader in the Emergency Management field and has worked with both public and private agencies throughout the United States.
